The Opportunity
A specialist maritime technology and connectivity business, trusted across shipping, energy, government and defence, is opening one of the most consequential seats in its operations organisation. Its largest department, more than 50 people spanning service coordination, bridge equipment and commercially minded operations teams, is mid-restructure and needs a leader who can bring stability and a genuine commercial lens to how the business spots growth. This is a rare dual mandate: real technical credibility in bridge equipment and maritime operations, paired with the instinct to identify new business opportunities that a purely technical leader would miss.
The Impact You Will Have
- Unify service coordination, technical and commercially minded operations teams under one clear operating rhythm
- Own the link between day-to-day service delivery and the wider business development agenda
- Shape a new growth strategy for an operations function moving from reactive to proactive
- Bring lasting stability to a team that has been through significant change
- Act as the senior point of contact when technical and commercial issues intersect with major clients
What Success Looks Like
- Eight or more years leading technical or operational teams in the maritime sector, ideally shipping or ship management
- Comfortable managing distributed teams with genuinely different working styles and locations
- Commercially literate without being a salesperson, able to spot and shape opportunities rather than just deliver against them
- A track record of staying the course in senior roles; this is not a short-term stepping stone
- Confident operating close to senior leadership, managing upward and outward in equal measure
