The Opportunity
A leading global marine and energy consultancy is opening a New Orleans seat for the first time in years and needs a senior marine engineer to build it. The Gulf Coast bench has sat empty since its last engineer left for the autonomous shipping sector, part of a wider pull of marine engineers away from traditional survey work. Whoever takes this on builds the practice, not inherits one.
The Impact You Will Have
- Own marine casualty investigations across the Gulf Coast and Mississippi River, first call to final report
- Represent the firm as an expert witness in court and arbitration on high-value marine disputes
- Build and lead a small technical team as the New Orleans practice grows
- Develop new client relationships in an established but underserved regional market
What Success Looks Like
- A Class 1 (or Class 2 with strong sea-going pedigree) engineer who has genuinely sailed, not surveyed from a desk
- Equally comfortable on deck and in front of a judge: writing and testimony matter as much as judgement
- Confident working alone, unsupervised, on-site from the Mississippi to the Caribbean at short notice
- A builder, not a caretaker: ready to mentor, lead a small team and develop new business
