Job Title: Product Development Engineer · Location: Crawley, West Sussex (lab-based, on site at least four days a week)
The Opportunity
A UK solar-thermal manufacturer has just closed a government-backed £8.9m round to bring manufacturing in-house. The open question is which product the new factory builds. Its next-generation collector is in development now, and the engineer who joins this lab will generate the test evidence that shapes that decision.
The Impact You Will Have
- Put hands on the next-generation product, aimed at higher output, lower cost and simpler integration
- Design, build and instrument the rigs that decide which product concepts go forward
- Produce the data that takes the next generation towards certification and into production
- Join an engineering team that has grown entirely by referral until now, bringing fresh ideas as one of its first external hires
What Success Looks Like
- You are happiest at the bench: building, instrumenting, breaking and fixing physical setups
- You understand measurement properly: sensors, signal quality, sources of error
- You turn raw data into conclusions you can defend, and adjust the test in real time when results surprise you
- You may be building a career in experimental engineering, or bringing years of it to a role that keeps you close to the hardware
What Is on Offer
