Cyber Security Engineer – Enterprise Security
Midland, Texas
Are you a hands-on cybersecurity engineer who wants to protect critical energy infrastructure and make a real-world impact every day?
We’re partnering with Permian Resources (NYSE: PR), a leading independent oil and natural gas company, to recruit a Cyber Security Engineer for their Enterprise Cybersecurity Team. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a fast-paced, operationally critical environment where security is fundamental to business continuity-not just a tick-box exercise.
This role is ideal for a technically strong security professional who enjoys designing, implementing, and operating security controls while collaborating closely with IT, cloud, and operational teams.
What you’ll do
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise security solutions including firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, SIEM, IAM, PAM, and DLP technologies.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of company data.
- Conduct threat analysis and vulnerability assessments, proactively identifying and mitigating cyber risks.
- Lead incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Monitor security tooling and logs to detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and IT teams to embed security across on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Research and evaluate emerging threats and new security technologies.
- Contribute to security awareness initiatives and help strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be a strong fit if you are:
- An experienced cybersecurity engineer with 5+ years in security engineering or a closely related role.
- Confident designing and implementing security controls in complex enterprise environments.
- Well-versed in incident response, threat analysis, and vulnerability management.
- Familiar with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and security policy development.
- Technically strong across one or more of the following:
- Firewall Management & WAF
- EDR / Endpoint Security
- SIEM
- IAM & PAM
- DLP
- Cloud Security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- A strong communicator who can work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience securing OT / Industrial Control Systems (SCADA) environments.
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or equivalent experience.
Why this role stands out
- Mission-critical impact: Secure systems that support large-scale energy operations.
- Hands-on engineering: Design, build, and operate—this is not a purely advisory role.
- Enterprise exposure: Work across cloud, IT infrastructure, and operational environments.
- Growth & stability: Join a well-established organisation investing in cybersecurity maturity.
- Inclusive culture: A diverse, collaborative environment where your expertise is valued.
If you’re a practical, technically driven cybersecurity engineer who wants ownership, challenge, and real operational impact, this is a role where your skills will truly matter.
