Steven Kobos is the President and CEO of Excelerate Energy, a global leader in flexible LNG infrastructure.
Steven was appointed CEO in 2018 after more than a decade serving as board member and corporate counsel. His relationship with Excelerate began in 2007 when he negotiated Kuwait’s first LNG import terminal, marking the company’s early expansion into the Middle East.
With a career spanning nearly three decades, Steven has led complex infrastructure deals across Latin America, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Europe.
His background in international energy law, LNG shipping, FSRU chartering, and EPC negotiation has shaped Excelerate’s ability to rapidly deploy energy solutions in critical regions.

Under Steven’s leadership, Excelerate Energy has transformed from a project developer into a publicly traded, vertically integrated LNG solutions provider.
In 2022, Steven led the company through its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: EE), raising over $400 million and securing long-term financial resilience to support global energy transition initiatives.
Steven guided Excelerate’s swift response to the European energy crisis following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, delivering new FSRU infrastructure in Germany to support regional energy security.
He also oversaw the creation of Excelerate Technical Management, a wholly owned subsidiary responsible for in-house fleet operations, boosting global reliability and operational excellence.
