Who are we recruiting for?

Our client's services span the entire offshore project lifecycle, from engineering & design, construction and third-party verification to marine warranty surveying, dynamic positioning, installation, risk management to decommissioning. Their professional staff consists of Civil and Structural Engineers, Naval Architects, Mechanical and Marine Engineers, Risk Analysts and Master Mariners. They aim to approach maritime challenges from a fresh perspective, developing solutions that deliver safety and innovation at the same time - we call this "Blue Sea Thinking".

What will you be doing?

In consultation with the Location Managers and Business Stream Leads:

1. Engineering Leadership

  • Develop and lead a competent, effective, appropriately skilled and motivated multi-discipline UK engineering team that meets the needs of the business.

  • Provide engineering technical leadership, guidance and advice to clients and colleagues.

  • Provide oversight of the technical and service delivery of the engineering team ensuring compliance with the business management system.

  • Take responsibility for the attainment of the service line quality, health and safety, financial targets and other KPIs.

  • Oversee engineering project workload amongst engineering staff and subcontractors.

  • Liaise with business stream directors, leads and other offices worldwide to deliver global projects using the most appropriate resources.

  • In consultation with the Business Line Leads, identify specific training requirements for the delivery of Engineering Services and participate in the appraisal of staff performance.

  • Provide oversight of forecasting of future Engineering workload and identify future resourcing levels and skillsets required to meet workload and capability requirements.

  • Lead recruitment initiatives to ensure the team is resourced with appropriate capacity, skills and experience according to the budget.

2. Business Development

  • Work with the business development team to identify, document and pursue new and existing business opportunities for Engineering Services in order to achieve growth targets.

  • Actively cross-sell the company's full range of business stream services.

  • Take responsibility for coordination of and preparing UK Engineering work scope proposals, including cost and deadline estimation.

3. Delivery of Engineering and Consultancy Services

  • Participate in a wide variety of engineering projects and other consultancy services as required.

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Master of Engineering or Science in structural engineering, naval architecture or other relevant engineering subject or Bachelor of Engineering with equivalent experience.

  • Member of a professional institution and a Chartered Engineer or with required levels of experience.

  • Extensive experience in design, construction of marine structures and marine operations or other relevant consultancy activity.

  • Extensive experience in project management from opportunity identification through to project delivery.

  • Advanced user of engineering software in the area of expertise and an awareness of the range of engineering software and its limitations.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software.

  • Right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
