Our client is a global leader in battery and energy storage technology within the maritime industry. With a long history of battery system manufacturing, they bring together a wide selection of expert engineers, scientists, and industry sector specialists to provide solutions to modern-day commercial shipping.

What will you be doing?

The Systems Design Engineer designs a complete and complex framework, system or product and defines processes for technical platforms. This includes working with stakeholders and implementation of products, features and technologies.

  • Collaborates within a cross-functional team

  • Works closely with customers, technical and project personnel

  • Organises both external and internal stakeholder requirements for new products / features / technology developments

  • Key participant for system specifications and formalised representations of solutions (for example, flow charts, models) to develop systems that meet customer needs

  • Works closely with internal subsystem design teams to refine implementation of products / features / technologies & specifications to ensure they meet stakeholder's needs

  • Takes the lead in the development of innovative next-generation, ultra-light, high-safety, multi-industry leading marine battery systems designed and manufactured by in-house engineering experts in an EU-funded R&D consortium

  • Provides specialist input to the development of a standardised shore-based battery charging and swapping system for inland waterway and coastal shipping applications

  • Responsible for the management of the system and product requirements and have regular contact with industry, regulatory and academic partners exerting influence and providing efficient technical leadership to ensure KPIs and objectives are achieved on time and on schedule

Are you the ideal candidate?

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • Knowledge of the marine industry.

  • Understanding of electronic maritime systems and marine propulsion.

  • Experience in working with integration of new technology to existing platforms.

  • Holds self-accountable for achieving goals and standards.
