Who are we recruiting for?

Executive Integrity have partnered with a pioneering company at the forefront of harnessing wind power for the propulsion of ships. Our client is a rotor sail market leading company with a mission to dramatically reduce CO2 released from the maritime industry.

Purpose of the Job

To engineer, as part of a growing and ambitious Engineering team, the full lifecycle of my client marine wind-assisted ship propulsion technology from design and development through to manufacture, testing, forecasting, monitoring and review.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of the technology, in terms of functionality, engineering efficiency and cost effectiveness, specifying agreed design improvements for development internally or with external experts as required.
  • Work with existing and new manufacturers for supply of the technology in line with designs and specifications, and to the quality and cost required by the company.
  • Organise, plan and support the commissioning and operation of the technology on ships.
  • Contribute to the development of operation and maintenance manuals for new marine equipment and support clients with maintenance requirements.
  • Contribute to the running of tests on the equipment, gathering performance data.
  • Handle and process data for performance analysis of the technology to provide clear and meaningful insights for decision making on future development projects.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Mechanical or similar engineering discipline (minimum 2:1)
  • Working towards Chartership

Knowledge and Experience

  • Likely to have between 2 and 5 years of post-graduate engineering work experience, covering:
  • Mechanical design, ideally of industrial machinery for harsh environments
  • Critically reviewing designs for functionality, manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and cost reduction
  • Experience with Excel, MatLab, AutoCAD and 3D modelling software
  • Experience of using FEA software and interpreting results would be advantageous
  • Ability to manage specialist multi-disciplinary engineering consultants and suppliers
  • Experience of working with Classification Societies and applying their rules and regulations for designs would be advantageous
  • Experience of the commercial shipping industry would be advantageous
