What will you be doing?
The Manager of IT Infrastructure's role is to plan, organize, and manage the overall infrastructure team to ensure the stable operation of our clients IT systems and networks both on premises, offshore, and in the cloud. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key operational areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager of IT Infrastructure, the IT Infrastructure Manager will serve as first line support for our clients fleet and crew, while also serving as an escalation point for the IT Service Desk.
- Multi-faceted IT support role - Ranging from helpdesk support to server and network administration.
- Assist in day-to-day operations of Technology systems including servers, storage, telecommunications, and desktop machines.
- Assist with the design and implementation of short and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
- Assist in the remote support of international offices including helpdesk and infrastructure needs.
- Install and configure software applications and operating systems as required
- Test server and network performance providing statistics and reports.
- Help to maintain continual uptime for all IT systems
- Assist in streamlining the IT infrastructure to provide a more efficient seamless end user experience.
- Assist with Support of the Maritime fleet IT operations, ranging from Helpdesk support for officers and crew as well as server and network support of infrastructure onboard.
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience working within a shipping company handling the IT systems for the fleet and crew. Experience working with maritime software is a bonus.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working within information technology.
- Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industry.
- Knowledge of communication methods used in the maritime industry such as VSAT, FBB and others.
- Knowledge of maritime software such as DNV Navigator Port, Dualog, Navtor and others is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft services, such as Hyper-V and Active Directory.
- Understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and security.
- Willingness to travel to ships on a regular basis as required.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking and customer service skills.
- IT Certificates from leading companies such as Microsoft and Cisco are a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is a plus, but not required.
