Our Client is a leading international Consultancy specialising in the Marine and Offshore markets, they have seen unprecedented demand for their services for some of the worlds leading Offshore Wind Projects. Their highly talented Geosciences team is looking to add a Geophysical Lead who is ready to lead and develop the Geophysics specialism within this outstanding brand.


What will you be doing?


Lead and shape the geophysics offering whilst providing key insight and spatial understanding of the seabed to the engineering teams and clients to the highest standards in industry. Contribute geological and geophysical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, illuminating seabed structure characteristics and understanding the influence for key engineering decisions and processes. Apply geostatistical and risk-based approaches to define the impact of geological features to planned subsea infrastructure. Support, and where appropriate lead, proposals and projects in conjunction with senior leads in the geoscience team, and other disciplines within the Global team.

  • Lead and undertake geophysical interpretation, modelling and analysis for subsea infrastructure in the marine environment. Form a key role in the development of proprietary software and design tools.

  • Participate in engineering, consultancy and advisory projects

  • Work collaboratively within an integrated geoscience team comprising GIS, engineering geology, geophysical and geotechnical disciplines

  • Interface with, and lead support for, other disciplines, such as marine warranty, marine engineering, design, software and rig moves

  • To write comprehensive and detailed reports, and document reviews

  • Liaise with clients to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables and customer satisfaction

  • Mentor and develop staff within a geophysics team, generate an inspirational and aspirational, supportive work environment

  • Provide advice to members of the team and internal and external clients

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals for new work



Are you the ideal candidate?

  • BSc or BSc+MSc degrees in geophysics, geology or related discipline

  • Comprehensive experience in the offshore sector, with experience in offshore wind considered highly advantageous

  • Chartered, or working towards Chartered status

  • Detailed working knowledge of geophysical data acquisition methods, including MBES, SSS, SBP and high resolution (2D/3D) seismics

  • Knowledge of geostatistical methods and their application in the interpolation of key parameters in integrated geomodels

  • Strong experience in the interpretation of offshore geophysical data in producing geomodels, particularly within integrated geoscience teams

  • Detailed understanding of key geological features and hazards and how these impact subsea infrastructure

  • Experience of providing geophysical guidance and input to the subsea engineering process to define and control design and construction/installation risk

  • Demonstrated competence in key geophysical software packages such as IHS Kingdom, CODA, SonarWIZ

  • An ability to scope, lead and deliver on R&D projects would be considered advantageous

  • Demonstrable ability to work in an integrated and collaborative manner in a multi-discipline environment

  • Interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to lead, motivate and coordinate a team

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in both office and home working environments

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders

  • Efficiently differentiates critical analysis paths to solve complex problems

  • Applies strong project management principles when managing projects

  • Considers commercial aspects when managing projects and in own role

  • Uses a knowledge of team objectives and is self-motivated to deliver on individual and team objectives
